Joan is known internationally as an actor, author, producer, entrepreneur and humanitarian. She is a Golden Globe winner and Emmy-nominee. She was educated at the Francis Holland School and then trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. At the young age of 17 she was signed to the J. Arthur Rank Film Company, a British film studio. Her career flourished as she appeared in more than 60 feature films and dozens of television series, including creating the role of Alexis Carrington on Dynasty, one of the most highly rated television dramas of all time. Her notable guest appearances on American television during the 1960s and 1970s included Batman, The Virginian, Mission: Impossible, Police Woman, and the notable Star Trek episode, "The City on the Edge of Forever". Joan Collins OBE has also established herself as an author. Her novels and memoirs have sold over 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 30 languages.
