Helena Christensen

Helena has had a varied and inspirational career, most-well known as a fashion model she is also a designer and photographer.  She has appeared on many magazine covers and in fashion campaigns including Victoria's Secret catalogue and in their television commercials. With strong creative skills Helena has built a successful career in various other fields and works to raise funds for charity. In 1999 she was creative director of Nylon magazine at its founding by publisher Marvin Scott Jarrett. She also launched her own clothing line, Christensen & Sigersen, with life-long friend Leif Sigersen. The pair previously ran Butik, a shop in New York's West Village. She also sold some of her vintage clothes line in her mother's store, the Yo-Yo Second Hand Shop, in Copenhagen. Helena is also a photographer whose work has appeared in Nylon,  Marie Claire, and ELLE. Her exhibition "A Quiet Story", curated by Jim Cook, premiered in at the Locus Gallery in Rotterdam, 2006, and HotelArena in Amsterdam, 2007. Her exhibition "Far From, Close" appeared at Dactyl Foundation in 2008/09, to benefit International Center of Photography educational programs and Chernobyl Children's Project International. Helena launched the second Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign which involves the sale of exclusive designer t-shirts to raise millions for Ireland's Action Breast Cancer and Europa Donna Ireland to help younger women with breast cancer.

In 2011, Christensen partnered with John Barrowman to photograph the campaign for a new grooming range, entitled HIM. The collection launched exclusively on QVC with South African actor Nathan Roberts fronting the ads, which were shot in Copenhagen. The HIM range includes anti-bacterial aftershave balm, face wash, moisturiser, shaving cream and a Revive and Refresh Eye Roll-On. Also in 2011, she teamed up with Unsigned Model Scouts and Swarovski Crystallized to front a search for two new faces of the 2012 Swarovski Crystallized campaign. Helena headed the judging panel which also consisted of fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco, model Robert Konjic and Editor-in-Chief of Hercules magazine, David Vivirido. Helena as also been the face and spokesperson for Silhouette's Crystal range of eyewear. While maintaining her careers in photography and clothing design, Helena says of her son, 'He's all that matters - he's my best friend.'
